Why Bill Ackman is targeting Herbalife

Long ago, when my parents were young, they stumbled upon a "business opportunities" in the form of company multi-level marketing, called "Holiday Magic."
My mother worked as a nurse during the day. My father worked nights as a printer. They had three children and a mortgage, so they are looking for rest and a little magic.
Had no experience in the sale of cosmetics. They never asked the obvious question: It is easy to buy these things in the store when you need it.
Herbalife Ltd. to answer this question during his leadership at the scene of an investor conference this week in New York.
Herbalife has three million "independent distributors" in 84 countries. All types of products they sell can be bought in most pharmacies, grocery stores and supermarkets in the world of weight loss supplements, vitamins and anti-wrinkle creams. And it is the same elixir advertisers always sold with emotional ploys and exaggerated claims.
If you buy a product, as a friend, and not in a store, you do or what other uses, or if you have to sell.
Maybe you're fat. Maybe you are old. Or maybe you're just a part of it is so hard to believe that you can make a fortune selling this stuff myself, despite the millions of others who are trying to make the sale.
December 20, the hedge fund manager William Ackman famous named Pershing Square Capital Management, has submitted a 340-page presentation, Herbalife Trashing an investor conference York. He argues that it is a pyramid scheme, which uses desperate and unsophisticated. He says he just needs to be turned off, the Federal Trade Commission. It is closed on football and said it expects its value to zero as soon as it happens.
The market reacted violently, killing nearly a third of the cost of Herbalife. But since then, the actions to recover some of these losses, investors sorted by Ackman claims.
Herbalife said, accusing Ackman manipulate the stock and said it would consider further claims Ackman Thursday.
Another hedge fund investor, Robert Chapman Chapman Capital LLC, wrote that he had bought shares of Herbalife after Ackman "bear raid." It is suggested, Ackman know there is the possibility of closing FTC Herbalife, which is why his show flashes sled to the media, instead.
Points in his message, however, Chapman, seems to support the fact that Ackman Herbalife uses desperate people.
The company "has two secular booming in his favor," Chapman wrote.
"Many people who are overweight ... and there is no shortage in the nation Structural / UN workers."
So why do not all sellers Herbalife? All that we can sell the other, "Formula 1" cocktail for life. America will be saved!
Ackman presentation can be found on factsaboutherbalife.com. Herbalife answer will probably be bored if the company decides to respond point by point Ackman sloppy. It would be better to say nothing at all.
It is too easy to call almost all of the pyramid multilevel marketing businesses, because, well, it's more or less what MLM. They are the guys on top of the sauce sucking boys below.
Ackman attack reminds me of the time, GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. This feedback is valuable cost him the race, because somehow a Ponzi scheme is not technically a Ponzi scheme until it breaks or is prosecuted as such.
Currently, Herbalife is increasing. The reported its sales rose by $ 3.9 billion since 1980 the foundation. The complaints are not very confident. One country, Belgium, and decided that it is in fact a pyramid scheme, and that the judgment under appeal.
But, as Ackman said in his slideshow, Herbalife also recognizes that there is always the risk that someone will be officially considered a pyramid scheme.
"We are in danger of this ... our network marketing program should not be in compliance with the law, "the company said in the" Risk Factors "in its Form 10-K and other filings with regulators.
"The rules that apply to the organization of the network marketing is generally intended to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, often called a" system "or" pyramid chain. '
What comes around, goes around - again and again. In 1970, my parents were so eager to sell magical holiday, went to the bank to withdraw money.
Officer Wise Trust Fund warned regulators holiday magic pyramid was eventually rushed.
You do not want to hear. They thought that the trust fund official was simply trying to keep his dough in the bank. But that's exactly what happened, in case you're wondering why you've never heard of a wonderful stay.
Magical holiday late founder, William Penn Patrick, wrote a book entitled "Happiness and success in principle." This car racket also called "Dynamics Leadership Institute."
If you go to the Herbalife website, you will find that sells this type of self-irony, too: "to help people live healthier, more active lives ... working from home, the beach ... anywhere "
Michael Johnson, CEO of Herbalife, a former head of Walt Disney Co. You can tell by the way he talks. Ackman Johnson cites 2007 conference organized by Goldman Sachs investors:
"Part of our work is a pleasure. We get our distributors, with the possibility, with dreams and stories. 'S All part of what the company is. "
