Grizzlies still trying to cope without Rudy Gay

The Memphis Grizzlies have shown once before being nominated without Rudy Gay.

Now is the time to prove it once again.
Grizzlies began the process of moving on Thursday after talks scorer Toronto team with three involved Tayshaun Prince, Austin day and Ed Davis in Memphis.
The deductible is the best game came with Gay injured two seasons ago with a surprise seeded San Antonio and after an exciting seven-game series Half Western Conference finals against Oklahoma City. Prior to that, Memphis has never won a playoff game.
'' I do not think we're too afraid. I think we've been here before, without it,'' said guard Mike Conley Thursday's Shootaround team before the game in Oklahoma City.
'' We were without Zach (Randolph). We had guys down and we had to face. This team is very good to play with adversity,'' he said. '' We hope to resolve this kind of what we did when Rudy came out this year and made a playoff run and play this style of basketball.''

Gay was injured shoulder when Memphis fell with a victory in the 2011 West finals - a series that included a triple overtime defeat. This creates hope that the return Grizzlies top gay press. Instead, he was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last year against the Los Angeles Clippers and moved into fourth place in the West this season - even with the best of the first half of the season in the history of the team.
'' We are always one of the best teams in the league,'' said general manager Chris Wallace during a press conference at FedExForum. '' I do not think we have taken a back seat in this regard. There are a lot of basketball to play here in Memphis this season, and hopefully a good run in the playoffs, as well.''
Pressure mounted Gay luxury tax penalties resulted in an agreement that includes the backup center Hamed Haddadi to Toronto. Grizzly in the second choice in the trade and leader Jose Calderon predators in Detroit.
Memphis was the second budget a little further away within a week after Marreese Speights reserves, Wayne Ellington and Josh Selby were sent to Cleveland - a future production cycle - Jon Leuer and trade exception.
Before the season, the Grizzlies have decided not to sign OJ Mayo and let him go as a free agent.
'' If you have champagne tastes, you can not be on the beer budget,'' said coach Lionel Hollins, before saying he understands the issues facing Memphis is one of the smallest markets the NBA.
Hollins, who is in favor of maintaining the quintet together, and during the last year of his contract, he said that time will tell,'''' if the Grizzlies are the best team after the surgery.
'' I think we're still a good team. Other people may mourn the sadness of what the other,'' said Mr. Hollins.
Hollins has provided strong support for a new player for the Grizzlies runs show-me-what-you-have approach. Even with the prince, 10 years experience, said Memphis alone, no more than twice a year and could not be evaluated for the moment.
Regarding the success in 2011, Hollins was quick to point out that Shane Battier said after the injury Gay Memphis, to fill that void.
'' It was a big part of why we won, and I hope that Tayshaun Prince can come and contribute to a level that can help us to remain competitive and successful in the West,'' said Mr. Hollins.
Grizzlies still have a solid foundation to build around him, with All-Star tandem of Randolph and Marc Gasol in the frontcourt. Randolph was selected to the All-Star for the second time in three years this season, Gasol was selected last season, while Randolph was injured.
Memphis despite scoring leader, has never been Gay All-Star.
'' I think we still have our men Grand All-Star. Tayshaun is a champion, All-Star, but also,'' said guard Tony Allen. '' His record speaks for itself. E has been shown that this league.
'' I believe that our commitment remains the same. Our motivations are not even to go as far in the playoffs,'' Allen said. '' Every game we should, we will win.''
Newcomers were not ready to join the Grizzlies for their game Thursday night in Oklahoma City. First, you can play in a home game Friday night against Washington, but all the players of the first operation must undergo a medical examination.
'' We were a competitor. I think it's a competitor,'' said Randolph. '' Many people have told us, but I think we are still where he was. We have good players back, good players back and forth. We have strengthened the player who won the league and can play, and play defense and shoot well enough in the field and from 3-point line Tayshaun''.
An open question is whether the Grizzlies, under new ownership, which is designed to keep the team in Memphis, will do their low cost and more moves could be ahead.
'' We hope this is the end of the commercial scene for us, but this is a business, and you never know. Once we are here, and there will be one day,'' said Conley. '' We just have to make do with what we have and move forward.''
Wallace said that the new owners are in it to win'''' and trade is not a sign that they sell because they can not afford to take the franchise.

'' This is not "my call or something like that,'' said Gasol. '' We have to play. We have to play, and we must win. No matter who is on the ground, and that is not.''
